We're grateful for the support of Stan Graber and the many ways that Stan has helped Adams Thermal Foundation. Stan Graber is a man of action and integrity. When he first visited the Adams Thermal Academies in 2016, he came back and started thinking of ways that he could utilize his company and his connections to help the children we serve. Stan began sponsoring several of our students and even dedicated child sponsorships to honor the birthdays of some of his clients and friends. As a member of the Million Dollar Round Table, Stan sponsored grants from the MDRT Foundation for the benefit of our programs. And in 2017, Stan launched the Scramble for Ethiopia golf tournament which awarded each golf team a child sponsorship for participating. In 2018, Stan and his daughters Trinity and Yeshari, represented their home church as we turned on the Ottoro water system which was funded entirely by Central Church in Sioux Falls. In addition to child sponsorships, Stan has supported our Self-Help Groups which seek to empower women and help them learn business skills so that they can help break the cycle of generational poverty. We're humbled and blessed by people like Stan Graber and we celebrate the eternal rewards he'll receive for all the wonderful things he's done on our behalf!

A big THANK YOU to everyone who participated in our 5th Annual Scramble for Ethiopia Golf Tournament this past weekend. The event was held at the Hidden Valley Golf Course in Brandon, SD on Saturday morning, and the weather was almost perfect! At one point we heard thunder, and received a very few raindrops, but otherwise it was warm and sunny and relatively calm.
Our goal for the event was 10-10-10 - ten teams playing, ten child sponsorships and $10,000 raised - and we came very close to nailing it! We ended up with 8 teams, 2 short of that goal, but met the sponsorship goal of 10 and exceeded the fundraising goal by over $5,000!
Following the golf, everyone feasted on classic burgers and brats off the grill, with all the fixings, and prizes were awarded to the winning teams. Pin prizes were handed out and most everyone left with a prize!
We're grateful for everyone that came out to support the 5th Annual Scramble for Ethiopia. And we're especially grateful to our awesome sponsors who made this event possible.
Finally, our heartfelt thanks to Stan Graber who hosted the Scramble for Ethiopia again this year. We appreciate your partnership and your heart for the children, Stan!

The 4th Annual Scramble for Ethiopia once again has provided new sponsors for our kids and needed resources for the schools in Ethiopia.
On Friday, August 28th, local golfers gathered at the Valley View Golf Course in Freeman, SD to support the cause of Ethiopia while playing 18 holes on a perfect, late summer day. The winning score was a very competitive 11 under par and the longest drive was just over 280 yards. The teams were comprised of married couples, work associates, regular golfing buddies and new as well as old friends. There was a drawing for a brand-new Ping driver and prizes for nearly every team that participated.
The afternoon closed out with some tasty BBQ ribs and the opportunity to go home with a new best friend from Ethiopia. Four years ago, when host Stan Graber first imagined the event, he wanted to make sure that more of the at-risk children who attend Adams Thermal Academies in Ethiopia would have sponsors because of the event. So Stan pursued a lead donor to cover the cost of renting the course. As a result, the registration fees for every team could be used to sponsor a child for a full year. So as the proceedings were winding down, a member of each team selected a child to correspond with and pray for throughout the coming year.

GOLF IS AN ANSWER TO PRAYER
Have you ever received an answer to your prayers?
Six years ago, there were many prayers about the decision to take over responsibility for running the schools in Hosanna and Ottoro. And there was one consistent answer to those prayers. God promised He would bring others alongside us to help if we would be faithful and say "yes" to the door he was opening in Ethiopia. And that promise has been kept many times over. Many of the people reading this are answers to prayer. You know who you are! Every time we sign up a new child sponsor, or receive an inquiry about travel to Ethiopia, or accept a donation of support we are reminded of the faithfulness of God and the power of prayer.
In January of 2016, one of the "others" that God brought alongside us was Stan Graber. Stan visited the schools in Hosanna and Ottoro and came back home with the idea of starting a golf tournament that would benefit the children who needed sponsors. And so the first Scramble for Ethiopia golf tournament was held in June of 2017. Stan's idea was to cover all the costs of golfing with charitable marketing funds he received through his financial services business. Then all the fees that golfers paid to play could go toward child sponsorships.
Now in it's third year, the event continues to grow and bring new people alongside our organization. In addition, more than 30 child sponsorships have been started through the tournament in addition to giving through silent auction items and donations. This year, the Scramble for Ethiopia was held on Friday, July 19th at Valley View Golf Course in Freeman, SD. It was one of the hottest days of the year with temperatures soaring into the 90s. And yet, teams of all kinds with different skill levels came together to support the "poorest of the poor" and enjoy an afternoon on the rural South Dakota links. At the end of the day, everyone feasted on BBQ ribs while we gave out some pin prizes and told the story of what God is accomplishing in Ethiopia.
Our thanks go out to everyone that played, sponsored or volunteered to help with the Scramble for Ethiopia this year. We hope to see you again next year because truly, you are an answer to prayer. And we celebrate friends like Stan who have chosen to use their influence and resources to make a difference for those who have no influence and no resources. In addition to starting a golf tournament, Stan has won grants for our Self-Help Groups through his affiliation with the Million-Dollar Round Table and he has personally sponsored many of our students in honor of his clients to celebrate their birthdays and anniversaries.
Yes, we believe golf is an answer to prayer! So get your team together and put the Scramble for Ethiopia on your calendar for Friday, June 5th, 2020.
