We are thrilled to share a heartwarming story highlighting the power of compassion and the impact we can make when we come together to support children in need. Let us introduce you to high school teacher, Kadie Bakker, and her students at West Lyon High School in Iowa.

Mrs. Bakker, a child sponsor through Adams Thermal Foundation, understands the impact the foundation is having on students in Ethiopia. Therefore, she creatively thought of a way to involve her students while teaching them practical communication skills, hoping to nurture their compassion and global perspective. She organized a letter-writing campaign where her students would correspond with unsponsored high school students at Adams Thermal Academy in Hosanna, Ethiopia.

The West Lyon students wrote letters expressing their genuine interest in their counterparts across the globe. They asked about their favorite subjects, future plans, and shared stories about their own lives, bridging the distance between continents with words of encouragement.

Little did they realize that this process would have a profound impact on the Ethiopian students and on their own lives as they received meaningful letters in return. Through this simple act of writing letters, these high school students discovered the importance of human connection and the ability to make a real difference in the lives of others.

For $38 a month, you too can make a real difference in the life of a student in Ethiopia with your support, care, and correspondence. Please click Sponsorships on the main menu to select a child to sponsor.
